Frequently Asked Questions

The questions we get asked most, answered plainly. If yours isn't here, just ask.

Do you serve areas outside Las Vegas?

For remote online notarization, yes — anywhere in Nevada, including Reno, Sparks, Carson City, Elko, Pahrump, and Mesquite. For mobile and walk-in appointments, no — those are limited to Henderson and the Greater Las Vegas area.

What identification do I need?

A valid, unexpired government-issued photo ID: a driver’s license, state ID card, U.S. passport, passport card, military ID, or permanent resident card. Expired identification cannot be accepted even if the photo clearly matches, and photocopies or photos of an ID are not acceptable for in-person appointments.

Should I sign my document before the appointment?

No. The notary must witness your signature, so leave every signature and initial line blank until we meet. A document that is already signed usually has to be reprinted and signed again.

What does it cost?

In person: $15 for the first signature and $7.50 for each additional, which is the maximum Nevada allows. Online: $25 for the first signature and $10 for each additional. Mobile appointments add a travel fee of $30/hour daytime or $50/hour after hours with a two-hour minimum. The pricing page has worked examples.

Can you tell me what kind of document I need?

No. A notary is not an attorney and cannot give legal advice, draft documents, choose a form for you, or explain what a document means. We can tell you whether a document has a notarial certificate we can complete. For anything beyond that, consult a licensed Nevada attorney.

Can you notarize a document that will be used in another state?

Usually yes. A notarization performed correctly under Nevada law is generally recognized in other states, though the receiving party sets its own requirements. Read our full explanation.

Do all signers have to be present?

Yes. Every person whose signature is being notarized must personally appear — in the same room for in-person appointments, or on the same video session for online notarization — each with their own valid photo ID. A notary cannot notarize a signature for someone who is not there.

What if the signer cannot physically sign?

Nevada provides for signature by mark and, in certain circumstances, signing at the direction of a signer who is unable to sign. These require additional steps and sometimes additional witnesses. Tell us the situation when you book so we can prepare properly.

Can you notarize a document written in another language?

The notary must be able to communicate directly with the signer to confirm identity and willingness. We cannot use a third party to interpret between the notary and the signer. If we cannot communicate directly with you, we will refer you to a notary who can.

Can you be a witness as well as the notary?

Not on a document we are notarizing. If your document requires witnesses in addition to the notarial act, please arrange those witnesses in advance. They must also bring valid photo identification.

Are wills and living trusts able to be notarized online?

Trust documents are commonly notarized online. Wills and codicils are generally excluded from remote online notarization and should be handled in person. Because will execution requirements are strict and vary, we recommend having an attorney supervise a will signing.

How quickly can I get an appointment?

Same-day is frequently available for both online sessions and Las Vegas area appointments, including evenings and weekends. Send a request with your preferred window and we’ll confirm quickly.

What happens if you cannot complete the notarization?

If a notarization cannot lawfully be completed — expired ID, a missing signer, a pre-signed document, or a signer who does not appear to understand or willingly consent — we stop and explain why. We do not charge the notarial fee in that case. For mobile appointments the travel fee still applies, since the trip was made.

How do I pay?

Payment is due at the time of service, and the total is confirmed in writing before your appointment. We’ll cover accepted payment methods in your confirmation.

Still have a question?

Send it over — we answer inquiries within one business day, and we'll tell you honestly if what you need is outside what a notary can do.
